Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker and consultant, a columnist syndicated to a speaker as an author, author, and television presenter. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. As of February 2020 she had closed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a $350,000 investment to Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was the second child of 10 from a Catholic family with a low-income was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced from job to job throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family was sometimes dependent on the food provided by a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who would drink sometimes and treated her mother with disrespect. Corcoran struggled through her schooling and was diagnosed with dyslexia. She was a student at the local Catholic elementary school, and then began high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
