Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female elected vice president, and she is also the most powerful female officer in the history of America. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition, she served as a United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then appointed to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010, and reelected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and the legalization of cannabis which could lead to the citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is well-known for her direct questions to Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
